Bye bye Kevin.

By: Mark | January 30th, 2009

My second favorite trotter, after Jussi Jaaskelainen, has left the Reebok. Kevin Nolan was transferred to Newcastle United in a move that really came as a shock for no one. The transfer fee is believed to be in the 4.5 million pound area.

As a Wanderer, Nolan was 4 games shy of playing in 300 games with the BWFC badge on his chest.

Lets just take a second and remember this goal from last season

Good luck in Newcastle and here’s to hoping we can get Veloso!

I still can’t believe that Kevin Nolan would leave Bolton. I’m not a Wanderers fan but I’ve been a big admirer of him ever since he popped up on the Premier League scene. I’ve always thought of him as a miny Steven Gerrard and easily one of the best all round central midfielders in the league. He’s scored some stunning goals and given great service to Bolton over the years.

I guess what shocks me the most is that of all places, he went to Newcastle. But best of luck to him. He’s a fantastic player and I’m sure he will drag Newcastle singlehandedly out of the mire.

I felt apologetic when this announced and it makes absolutely no sense to me. I appreciate what he will provide Newcastle but how did he make a decision to leave a club he had been since he was 14? I have tremendous respect for him as a player but I’m too old to make sense of such a illogical decision.

It almost mirrors what Mark Davies did to Wolves leaving for you guys, sad times for Bolton, lots of pressure on Davies now?
